SMARTEC personnel provided REI services for this infrastructure project which included the construction of storm and sanitary sewers in 110th Street in Forest Hills, NY. The project abuts the LIE at 108th Street Exit. STORM & SANITARY SEWER, SIDEWALKS & CURBS, WATER MAINS.
Work involved:

Installation of (3) 7’-6”x6’-0” Single Barrel FRTC sewers in parallel

7’-6”x 6’-0” Single Barrel FRTC sewers;

30” and 24” R.C.P. storm sewers, modification of existing culvert chamber

Construction of three (3) new storm water chambers

Construction of 10’, 15”, and 18” ESPV Sanitary Sewer (some on Piles)

Reconstruction of 8” & 12” low-pressure water mains

Construction of NYCHA temporary pedestrian bridge and reconstruction of existing pedestrian bridge
Construction activities included the installation of fire alarm systems, street lighting, traffic signals, and EP-7 work, which included relocation of private utilities at several locations requiring close coordination with Con Edison, Verizon, Keyspan, and other facility owners as well as City agencies such as the Parks Dept., NYCHA, and DOT. SMARTEC personnel provided oversight of all contractors’ work activities. Construction operations included mobilization, tree pruning, installation of storm sewer and water main, restoration of concrete sidewalks, adjacent concrete curbs including steel faced concrete curbs and pedestrian ramps. Oversight also included all work needed to be in conformance with plans, specifications and requirements of the contract. The inspection team was responsible for monitoring project progress and maintaining accurate records of field measurements for payment purposes.
